Rabita-i Sherif

Question ID: 25880

Assalamu alaykum

I’m a murid of a Turkish Naqshbandi shaykh and in my daily dhikr I’ve been instructed to do “Rabita-i Sherif”.

It consists of imagining one’s shaykh (his face) in one’s mind and focusing on this for around five minutes.

1) Is this practice of “Rabita-i sherif” an authentic practice?

2) Is it permissible to practice this “Rabita-i sherif”?
