As-salamu `alaikum wa rahmatullah respected Mufti sahib,
I pray you and your family are in a state of afiyah in both spheres insha’Allah.
I am contacting you regarding a dream I saw recently. Alhamdulillah I was able to perform the hajj this year due to having a temporary contract position here in Saudi which was a means for me coming here. A few days after hajj, when I was sleeping I woke up in the middle of the night to use the washroom. After going back to sleep I saw a dream. It was as follows (Allah give me the tawfiq to recall accurately and forgive me for any mistakes, Ameen):
I was taken into a room wherein people were sleeping on the ground. The lights were off but I could still see those laying on the ground. After I found my place to lay down (don’t remember if I was directed by someone or came across it myself), I noticed that I was the second person down from the Prophet salla Allahu `alaihi wa sallam with only one person in between us (don’t recall that specific person). I became extremely desirous of the position next to him and was thinking how fortunate that individual was for being able to sleep next to the Prophet salla Allahu `alaihi wa sallam. During this time, I observed his mubarak characteristics. He had an extremely bright and noorani face (now that I think of it, that might have been what lit up the room) with smooth black hair passing his earlobes. He salla Allahu `alaihi wa sallam was sleeping with a white amamah on and also on his right side with his hand under his cheek just as described in hadith; he looked in a very peaceful state. All of a sudden the person next to him somehow landed on him and he awoke in a very worried and concerned state. With great mercy and compassion, he was checking if that person was ok and didn’t hurt himself. After that he got up and someone approached him with a bottle of itr. The Prophet salla Allahu `alaihi wa sallam wanted to show that person how much itr he had in his possession so he took out a thermos and started pouring out itr and was smiling. The one who offered the itr was also smiling and said something to the effect ‘Ya Rasulullah but this itr is different, I got it from Tajala’s brother’s store’. The Prophet salla Allahu `alaihi wa sallam was happy and took the itr. I remember the itr being of a bluish shade but am not certain. Then I woke up from the dream around one hour before fajr and was trying to recall the details especially his mubarak face but all that came to mind was an imam of our locality.
(Tajala is the name of my paternal uncle’s wife.)
I would like to know if 1) I really saw the Prophet salla Allahu `alaihi wa sallam in the dream because in the dream I was certain it was him but I sincerely don’t think I am pure enough to see him in a dream and 2) what does the dream mean?
