Worshipping of idols

We know that the Quraysh believed in Allah as the Supreme Being.

1) What was the aqeedah of the Quraysh in regards to the idols which made the Quraysh mushrik?

2)How did the Quraysh worship the idols?

3) When we do sajdah we face the ka’bah. A lot of non Muslims say that this is idol worship. What can we say to them when they ask such a question?

4) What is the Islamic definition of idol worship?

1) They believed in Allaah but states that He had given power/partnership to their idols.

2) By making prostration, vows, pledges, and sacrifices on their behalf.

3) If the Kaabah was not there we will still face that direction. To read inside the Kaabah is permissible. To perform Salaat in the Kaabah is permissible but Makrooh, Do idol-worshippers stand on their idols?

4) To worship a photo, statue or anything thereof thinking and believing that the thing has the power of divinity of giving good or bad and providing benefit or harm.
