Widowed father

Slms Mufti Saheb my husband and myself lived with my widowed father in law for two years . During that time my relationship with my father in law deteriorated I found it difficult to communicate with him . I also found out my father in law practiced horse , sports betting etc. He also dressed indecently in in shorts well above his knees as suc,h making me very uncomfortable. My husband adopts a tolerant attitude and is not confrontational but hasbeen highly displeased of his father’s actions for a number of years.

My husband and myself have , now for the past four years have moved out and have our own place.We have two children and live in a flatlet. I am very concerned, however if my father in law can no longer live on his own and wants to come to live with us, as my husband is the only son and he has one married sister.

I have always given him food at his place . I feel my marriage will become compromised if he has to live with us ever,as the there is too much tension in our home if he is around. Islamically, am I obliged to keep him under the same roof and what are my obligations as a daughter-in-law. Since my husband is in he middle of his wife and father what are his obligations.
