I have been conned from a builder out of R500 000. he got the money up front and only did 20% of the work. He claims I owe him money because he under quoted though we have a written and signed contract by both parties. He has not even used the R500 000 as yet and has stopped working. I later found out that he has done this to many other people and is an old con artist. I went to a top lawyer and he said that it would take 5 years to get to the high court and would cost in excess of R450 000. So its not worth going that route. Is it permissable for me to use some physical force on him (just to rough him up a bit) and threaten him to get him to give my money back? If so How much force would I be allowed to use before I would be transgressing sharia?
