Using charms to protect ones house

I do not fully understand your question, what is meant by charms. However, to recite duaas for the protection against witchcraft is absolutely permissible. Many Quraanic Aayat, like Ayatul Kursi, last two Suras of the Quraan, the Manzil as compiled by Sheikh Shah Waliullaah (A.R) or Sheikh Zakariyyah (A.R) may be recited.
