Use of tampons

Assalamu alaikumus, Mufti elias,
I would like to know that if the use of tampons is allowed in Islam?
Also if I use a tampon during my period does it mean that I would have to read salah because the blood is not flowing?

Permissible to use. However, in the state of Haidh Salaat is not allowed and there is no Qaza for that missed Salaat.
