Smoking cigarretes

regarding smoking, what is the ruling regarding it being Makrooh Tahrimi? (I mean if smoking cigarettes is regarded as Tahrimi then does it become haram upon a person after continuous indulgence as a person would smoke several times each day)

And if it does become haram, the hadeeth that states you receive no reward for salaah for 40 days and duas are not accepted if you consume haram , does this hadeeth apply then to smoking as well (as it would apply to intoxicants and haram food)?
