Salaams Mufti Saheb
You have criticised SANHA however the Jamiatul Ulama SA commends SANHA (see statement from Jamiatul Ulama below). Who do we, the Muslim Ummah of SA, believe. Please could you Ulamas and Muftis sort out your differences and get your act together. It is highly irresponsible for you learned people to put us ordinary Muslims in such a confused state!!!
SANHA meets Jamiatul Ulama South Africa
Members of the executive committee of the Jamiatul Ulama South Africa have had a meeting with management and board of trustees of the South African National Halaal Authority (SANHA). The meeting took place on Tuesday 8 Feb 2011 at Baitul Hamds boardroom in Fordsburg.
At the meeting the Jamiatul Ulama South Africa reiterated the support it has for SANHA. Representatives from SANHA highlighted the strides SANHA has made in spite of the many challenges facing the authority.
SANHA has become an internationally recognised halaal certifying body investigating and establishing the permissibility of foods and beverages according to Islamic Dietary Law.
SANHA-formulated standards have been adopted and used as a benchmark for halaal certification of industries in South Africa and abroad. It is also an active member of the World Halaal Council, a forum at which such standards are discussed and adopted.
