Shaving the area around the anus

assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah.i came to know that we have to shave the area around anus.but i find it very difficult and also afraid of causing damage to that area by cutting or laceration…..today i’ve tried and had my skin cut by the razor.i cant use hair removing cream either as they are an irritant for me because of it being made of potassium hydroxide.what to do?is it a must to shave that area? our prophet used to do this?
