Seeing the face of the mayyit

Question ID: 25980

As-Salaamu Alaikum Wa-rahmatul lahi Wa-barakaatu

My brother-in-law’s (my sister’s husband) sister who was in her late 60’s passed away in hospital on Friday evening and the funeral was on Saturday (24/11) at 10.00 am.

There is a lot of inter-marriages in our family hence we are all related in some way or the other.

The two sons took a decision not to show the face to anyone even though my brother-in-law told them to show the face to the immediate family but they refused. The marhooma’s first cousins came from Johannesburg and they were not allowed to see the face. Please advise if this is correct.
