Second sajdah

As salaam alaikum

In salaah we have two sajdahs to complete a rakaat .Is this just the method of salaah ? or are there more significant reasons for the second sajdaah?

This is the method of Salaat.
There are reasons for the second Sijda. Philosophical in nature.
