As salaams wu alaikum,

My question is that regarding istikarah namaaz. I was introduced to a guy by a family friend and we intend on getting married insha allah. Lately we seem to be having lots of arguments regarding wedding preparations and is causing me much distress. A few months back we also had an argument resulting this in which he read istikarah namaaz and said that he got a good feeling about marrying me. I didnt read istikarah at that stage, because, I have heard that you need to read it at night before you go to sleep and not have contact or see anybody after you sleep. Because I share a room and there is lots of noise in my household due to the kids, I felt that it was improper. But I feel that I should read it now, in light of all this tension. I read somewhere on the internet that I woman in her menses can still read istikarah namaaz without performing the two nafl rakaats and by merely reading the dua. Please let me know if this is correct and if so are there are any guidelines. This is really urgent as they are coming for a proposal in 2 weeks time.

Currently your relationship with this 'guy' is wrong, 'haraam', full of sin, transgressive and disobedient. How can good come of this? Stop. Delay. Reconsider. Although the Duaa can be read, but wait for purity then make 'Istikharah' the proper way - See 'nafl salaat'  on site, then act according. In fact wait for official proposal first then make Istikharah.
