quraan khatam for relatives

Question ID: 31605

Dear Respected Mufti,
I am a working mum and I have a very highly pressurised job. During the day I travel to clients and so I spend about 2 hours in total on the road.
I have recently lost both my father and my brother and I have made a commitment that I will recite 41 surah yaseen for them every week, Alhamdulillah I know yaseen of by heart, so I recite this along with the audio CD.
I have recently made niyaat to complete a kathaamal Quran for them. Everyday I choose some verses, I recite after Fajr. I also do some tilaawat while driving. I only read when I have wudhu. And I follow an audio CD. The issue is I am not a hafidha, but due to constant and consistent recitation I do know alot of verses or parts thereof. So I go back and rewind and recite etc.
It is a form of me putting more the Quran to memory, but I want to know is once this is complete using my normal method of recitation and this will I have made a valid Kathaam?
Please advise.

The method you are using is good for memorizing and listening. It is complicated in this manner to complete the Quraan. Which Ayat you read, which you not reading? Spend some time daily +- 15minutes and read physically off the Quraan. I am sure the deceased deserve much more than that.
