dear mufth,
i am a revert of13 years. Its been difficult to try a keep my relations with my non-muslim family and my husbands muslim family. i have made many changes over the years. My purdah offends some of my family. Also my not attending certain functions eg. a birthday, muslim wedding, with intermingling, music etc.
sometimes, its difficult to stand your groundbecause you dont have proof for everything even though in you heart you know its right.
Sometimes when i stand my ground and i feel like a hypocrite. Because i have faults in other ways, everyones expecting me to be perfect now and waitng for some fault to point a finger. These are muslims.
i have so many unanswered questions. what is/isnt permissible for a revert regarding their families. IS THERE ANY BOOK, INFO FOR PEOPLE LIKE ME THAT GIVES US GUIDANCE. OUR SITUATION IS DIFFERENT FROM THOSE RAISED IN MUSLIM HOMES.
