paying parents money

Question ID: 31213

I am in a dilema. I have been married now to my wife for over 12 years and there is always a deliberation to whether I can or cannot pay my parents any money monthly? as my wife insists that this is unjustified because I do not also pay her parents?
She used to pay her parents on her own when she worked and now that I am the sole bread winner, she justifes that I should now take this responsibility? as she had to leave work due to the responsibility of children
Please respond and advise if this is justified for me to pay or not to my parents,as I do not see this being a reason to also be obligated to pay anything to her parents, who are non-muslim at present.

It is rewardable to aid your parents financially especially if they are in need. It is not your duty to aid your in-laws financially, however if they are in need, even if they are non-Muslims, aid as per your ability, Allaah will reward tremendously.
