Missing fasts

Asalaamualaykum Sheikh, i have a serious question, i have always fasted every year although i become very moody and not very functional during Ramadan i do attend taraweeh etc. i in most of the year have experienced on and off mood/mental changes which i have recently been diagnosed with Bipolar by a Muslim Psychiatrist. i have been to him before because he is quite honest in his profession and if you are a muslim aswell he always puts religion first in his findings. i decided to see this doctor now and get a diagnosis because i do love fasting but even though my mind is busy or stagnant it always has a million different things running through it, and i got to day 3 of this years fasting and had to break it. i felt bad, but with my illness i am finding it harder to read 5 times salaah and quraan which i did daily. so i am on a catchup of the salaah i missed, and i know it sounds bad but i had to not fast this year because of fear of becoming more “ill” and i fear with medication to treat this illness for the remainder of my life i wont be able to fast. Is this permissible if i am medically ill? and if so how much do i need to pay and to where? i am a Hanafi in Johannesburg. Shukrin

Read Daily Surah Qaaf. You will find great relief in this. When you are in good 'mood' keep Qaza of fasts missed. The law of Fidya does not apply to you.
