Massallah pertaining to talaaq

As salaamu alaikum
My husband posted me a Statement of divorce with one Talaq e Baain.
How valid is this as he did not say those words to me but sent it in a letter?
And is this Talaq e Baain equivalent to saying 3 talaqs?

The Talaaq is valid.
It is not 3 Talaaqs, but as effective. It does the same job, even if it be one or two.
After your Iddat you can marry whomsoever you want.
