the scenario is the following with a three part question on money given as Lillah to a Masjid for building-renovations…etc…
for a few years, money has been donated as Lillah to a Masjid for the purposes of building-renovations – however delays for various reasons have occurred – and the financials are posted on the notice board showing that the Lillah has grown year-on-year…
1)Q1-is it justified for the Lillah to be carried over for such long periods(more than 3 years) ?
2)Q2-would it be correct and Jaiz to ask for the Lillah to be returned, so that this can be disbursed as Lillah elsewhere?
3)Q3-many Islamic organisations are guilty of carrying Lillah over for long periods in the above manner explained – does ZAKAAT become obligatory on this Lillah that is been held and not spent by the trustees, executive members etc…in responsible reasonable periods?…
