As-salaam-mu-alaikum
If i have entered into a transaction which takes a period of time to complete, (i.e a set of kitchen units). The contractor has been paid a deposit and he has started construction on some of the units but they have not yet been installed, they will only be installed once all the units are completely constructed. These complete units are not on my premises but on the contractors premises. The transaction will go through and we have not intention of cancelling the contract.
I would like to who is liable for the zakaat on the money paid as a deposit?
