Learning Urdu

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuh Hadhrat Mufti Saheb.
I am an English speaking university student in South Africa.
Mufti Saheb, would it be good for me to learn urdu? I know nothing.
I sometimes feel it uncomfortable and disrespectful to speak with elderly relatives and certain Senio Ulama-e-Haq in English. I feel that I am inconveniencing them by forcing them to revert to English.
Importantly, some Ulema converse only in Urdu. When an English translator is used, I feel that the barakat of what is being imaparted is partially lost and I also feel left out that I cannot benefit directlyt from them.

(1) Is my thinking correct?
(2) Would it be good for me to learn Urdu?

(3) If so, could Mufti Saheb please reccommend a suitable kitaab? My relatives speak an informal Urdu and don’t want to teach me the wrong thing as they say.
Jazakallah Khair.
Was-salam

1) Good.

2) Good.

3) Learning solely via a book will take too long and is tedious. Seek an Ustaadh, Moulana, etc. Let him choose a Syllabus, whatever time, better after Fajr, but be regular. InshaAllaah within a month you will be able to learn easily.
