Selling Old Goods Given to me by Company

Question ID: 40722

My company disposes of its old IT Equipment. They do this by getting a recycling company to collect the old equipment. They (the recycling company) will assess the items and offset the cost of collecting the items by selling on some of the kit where they can. My manager was is in charge of overseeing this.

I requested from my manager if I could have some of the items (some of which were damaged) – for my personal use.

My line manager agreed that I could take these items. I have found that some of the items were not cost effective for me to repair. I have managed to sell them and gained some monetary benefit.

Am I entitled to use this money for myself? If i am not entitled to this money then what should be done – can I give it to a Muslim lady who is in debt?
