Intention for a qadha fast

assalamu alaikum

1. is it true that when keeping a qadha fast it is necessary to make the intention at night (i.e. before subah saadiq)?

2. if the intention is made in the morning (i.e. after subah saadiq), will the fast be regarded as a nafl fast or a qadha fast?

No Niyaat must be made before 'Subh-e-Sadiq'
Nafl fast Niyaat must be made before midday.
