Having a TV

Question ID: 26790

Assalam o alaikum,
Respected Mufti Sahab, I want to know that watching T.V and keeping a T.V at home is it ok or not. As you know now-days it is found in almost every house and sometimes it becomes necessay to watch news and know what is going on in other parts of the world. It seems as T.V has been an essential part of the so called Modern World and Home. Those who do not keep it are looked down upon or seen in the society as a poor person.

2. Watching news, cartoons, sports like cricket, football and programmes like urdu deeni talim, discovery channel, history channel where new things are known in the space or down below the ocean are good to watch.. Children watching cartoon like mickey mouse, doremon, and other amusements, so is all these ok to watch or not and if one does not have a T.V then how can one watch all these programmes.

Please shed your valuable Ilm light on this issue and guide us.

Jazzak Allah!
