Assalamu alaikum Mufti Saheb.
I was reading a kitab recently, ‘Signs before the day of judgement’ by Ibn Kathir, and I came across a few Ahadeeth which were similar, but had different narrators. I will write down one here only.
“Abu Bakrah said the Prophet (S.A.W) said: “There wil be a tribulation during which one who is lying down will be better than one who is sitting, one who is sitting will be better than one who is standing, one who is standing will be better than one who is walking, and one who is walking will be better than one who is running.” Someone asked: “Oh Messenger of Allah, what do you advise me to do?”. He said, “Whoever has camels, let him stay with them, and whoever has land, let him stay in his land.” Someone asked: “what about someone who doesn’t have anything like that?” He said: “Then let him take his sword and strike its edge against a stone, then go as far away as possible.” (Abu Dawud)
My questions are:
1) Could Mufti Saheb please explain to me the 1st part of this narration which is regarding one who is lying down and so on.
2) In the Fazail Amal, there is a similar hadith narrated by Huzaifa (R.A.) ( I was sitting in a taleem and heard this one, and can’t remember the exact words). It was something to the effect of muslim sects will fight each other, and one should go and live under a tree when that time comes.
My question is, it is quite apparent regarding the evils taking place in the world. With regards to sects, there has been a barrage of new sects forming in recent times, and it does become quite difficult for an uneducated individual like myself. These hadith’s state taking refuge in isolated places (if my understanding is correct). Supposing I want to practice on this hadith and decide to live in isolation. Is this a practical or advisable thing to do? Please do explain
Jazak-Allah for your time.
