Dear Mufti
My cousin gave 3 talaqs to his wife whilst being intoxicated with alcohol.
This all stated when he got himself into financial diffculties , lost his car ,job , house etc and couldn’t face up to his debts.
In the mean time she has taken their two children and left the house. According to her she said that he even wrote the talaks down on paper which he doesn’t remember.
I have already told him that he is now divorced from his wife.
i am not sure if i had made a correct statemnet as i felt it was haraam for him to consume alcohol in the first place and then claim he can’t remember what he did.
He has now come to his ” senses” and wants his wife back.
Am i correct in what i said? i actually feel sorry for him BUT i also think he deserves every bit of what happened to him.
