Dreaming of a daog;sanity

In my dream I saw a dog from the neighbourhood of my parent’s house get in to the garden of my parent’s house. My wife, who was at my parent’s house decided to quench the dog’s thirst. I prevented her from doing so because it would encourage the dog to come again & again &, secondly, I am afraid of dogs. She would not listen despite my shouting at her. The dog tried to get in through an open window & I was fearful he would get in the house & make everything napaak.

Furthermore, another part of the dream unrelated to the first part was me waking up & asking my wife questions, e.g. what day is it? where is my car etc? The reason for asking these questions in the dream was to ascertain for myself whether I was sane or not as I was walking around in a daze, unsure of my sanity. What does this all mean?
