Conveying reward to the deceased

As Salaamualikum Mufti

1) can a person recite two rakaat for any deceased person and convey the reward to them

2)when ever i khatam the quran ,or recite darood i convey the reward to the umma and all my relatives ,families etc.ive been told i cannot do that. only 3 things reach the deceased , dua of pious children, sadaka jariya and any intelectual knowlege benifiting people. please advise
