Commercially slaughtered chickens

Question ID: 21309

Assalamu alaikum ww

I am doubtful of commercially slaughtered chicken and thus do not eat it myself. When I am invited to eat at another Muslim’s home and they are serving chicken:

1) Is it permissible to ask where he/she obtained the chicken from?

2) If I did not ask and went ahead eating, but later learnt that it was meat from an unreliable abatoir, do I get the sin for having eaten Haraam and are my Ibaadaat accepted?
