Fasting on the 9th of zil Hajj

Asalaamualaikum Mufti.

The question is to fast on the 9th Zil Hajj and the day being a Saturday? (This is a single fast). The Jews fast on Saturday. Will our fast be accepted if we fast only on the Saturday. Imaam Shaafi says it is a Sunnah, Imaam Hanafi says it is a Nafl Fast. Please explain both Imaams verdicts.
