Iddat while working

I was granted talaaq 6 years ago, he denied this for the next 3 years saying he pronounced the words incorrectly, however 2 years ago I could not continue to live in sin anymore I asked him to leave, he then accepted that he granted my talaaq because he wanted to remarry. This was April last year, I never observed the iddat period, do I still have observe this period, I too plan to remarry . I am a working how will I manage doing this.
