Question ID: 28557

Salaams Mufti,
I have a few questions for which I need clarity and advice.

1) I have recently been made aware of a type of zikr taking place called
the ‘hadara’. This zikr entails the moving of the body from a standing
position to a bowing (like in ruku) position continuously while a zikr is
being read. I was told that this type of zikr occurs or rather stems from
Cyprus where a sheikh has given permission to a mureed of his to conduct
such a zikr in the area.
Kindly advise if there is such a type of zikr in Quraan and Hadith or any
other reference and should we take part?

2) Related to the above question, there is also some sort “Whirling” that
takes place. This entails someone who stands at the centre of a zikr
circle and starts to spin wearing a special tailored white outfit whilst
the zikr is being read. Please comment.

3) Is it allowed to have a gathering in a residence for zikr and then a
tape recorded zikr be heard and followed?

Please make dua for me.

Salaams and duas,
