What should be done with a dvd of a friend?

Asalamualykum i once borowed a matric ball dvd from a friend of mines she than moved to durban and i no longer have contact with her i have stopped watching t.v do i still have to make an effort to return it to her or do i destroy the dvd considering that it is haraam
