Taqleed to one Mathab only

Question ID: 19508

Asalaamu alaykum Mufti Sahib

I hope Mufti Sahib well with the kudrah of Allah swt.

Just a quick question to to clear some important matters.

Mufti sahib – is taqleed to one mathab only for the layperson or does this apply also to Ulama and Students of Deen?

Also assuming that everyone has to taqleed to one mathhab then under what circumstances can one use certain rulings from other Mathaa’ib?

Also I am studying Imaamat in Cape Town and have always taqleed to Imam Shafi’i (r) however we are taught that we should always go for the strongest opinion in the ruling of the 4 Mathhabs. Would this differ much to the person who follows different Mathhabs (layperson) without understanding its rulings or does this subtley come down to the same thing?

JazakAllah Kheyr Mufti

Taqleed is necessary in our age and is for all, Ulema and Non-Ulema.
What you are been taught is totally erroneous.
You should not study under such un-qualified personnel.
