Asalamoalikum Warahmatullah

Moulana, I have been asked by a colleague we do not pray to stones etc. so why is there a stone in the Kaabah and why did your Prophet (SAW) kiss a stone if it was meaningless. Please advise how should I respond to this question because I said to this person I will get back to them.

We do not pray to the Ka'bah. It is a direction centre point. If not there will still face in that direction.. If one makes Salaat on it, Salaat Valid - Makrooh.
Do not stand of what you worship?
Hajre Aswad if not there as in history at one time, Istilaam was still make at that place. It is starting point.
