Sitting in a Hindu religious ceremony

Question ID: 32297

Assalaamu ‘Alaykum Mufti Saahib,

There was some religious ceremony at the work place. A muslim sat amongst them, without any belief in their religion or any reverence. He just sat out of negligence. What will be his state of Emaan, if :
1) He just sat and did not take part in any of the activity. just sat as if to show that he is present. He is sure that this is all kufr, shirk but still just sits.
2) He takes part in one of the rites let’s say puts oil in a lamp or something like that. Again, this is all out of negligence keeping firm faith in Allaah Ta’ala.
3) If he lost his Emaan (though he is now a regular practising muslim) then unfortunately his nikaah ended as well. He remembered this activity just recently. It took place some six years back. A couple of years back, he did his hajj with his wife. Is the Hajj of his wife valid?

Please do help with a prompt reply.
