Relieving imaam of his duties due to not being trustworthy

Question ID: 26521

Assalaamu Alaiykum,

Dear respected Mufti Saheb,

We have hired the services of an aalim but we require you to assist us in making the correct decision.

We have found the aalim to be untrustworthy, as many times he lies to us with a straight face.

I feel that as the aalim is unloyal to us in the sense that we can not even tell if he is telling us the truth or not we should relieve him of his duties.

He also has a history of borrowing money from people and not paying them back.

On these grounds is it correct to relieve such an imaam of his duties?

Should such a person be allowed to lead people in Salaah when we have clear and sound proof for this?
