Assalaamu Alaikum Mufti Saheb

I trust you are well Insha Allah.

I referred to an Aalim as Maulana when talking to a friend. He got upset and said that Moulana is an attribute of Allah in Qur’an. I need some help with addressing this kind of conflict in future. What is the best response to this?
Jazakallah Khair

It is permissible to refer to an Aalim as Moulana. Moulana means 'Our Spiritual Guide'. There is nothing wrong with this usage.
