Reading and tranferring reward to deceased

assalaamu alaikum

when a person reads Quraan and asks for the reward to be for their deceased parents, is there a total transfer of rewards or does the person who recited it also get the reward of the recitation.

and is it advisable that every bit of Quraan one reads to transfer the reward to others? or will it be that one is depriving oneself of the reward
