As Salaamu Alaikum; I have been employed by a company from 2008 till January 2016. I have opted to take resign and practice with the company on a contract basis. When I began my employment we had to complete a form on which funds we would like our pension and provident contribution to be invested in. Being young, vain and not very well aware of the laws of sharia and not being very financially savvy at the time I commenced my employment I placed the funds in a cherry pick fashion in whatever “investment” schemes were available, with a portion in “compliant” schemes which are guised as sharia compliant.
Now that I have resigned I have requested my funds to be paid out. My question is, what portion will be permissible? The full amount, seeing as though the pension and provident contribution was compulsory as per my employment contract or the capital contribution?
