Parents don’t want to change behaviour

Question ID: 22442

My parents are from originally from Pakistan and moved her when young not educated we are educated and born in the western world I always feel that there’s a big difference of opinion not willing to make any changes in their behaviour stuck in the old thoughts cultural and just general
Now Islam is prevailing and educated people are doing things differently ie spending and learning Islam nothing seems to come under their noses always frictions and difference of opinion my mum has actually said to me I gave birth to you and you are going to teach me they treat us like children really putting our opinions behind any other person they tell us to shut up and b quiet in front of other people there is no respect from their side then they say our kids are no good they ruined us in fact I think kids are good but they have ruined it for us and themselves with their unwillingness to change in their ways and be stubborn about silly things if they changed their attitude I know they will get double back but this generation just does Allah Allah and no action they don’t know what rights of children are etc
I just don’t even want to spend much time with them anymore they are both so negative and complain and honestly this is a disease not the way of Islam I’ve tried making them understand through hard and nice words now I’ve given up I always make duah
How can people behave like this they don’t own anything in the world but they think they ‘own’ us
They live in the west but think like back home
how to deal with parents who tink they know it all but in fact DONT coz they dont update or keep up

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُاللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

Bear and be patient with them, as long as they do not tell you to do something that is un-Islaamic.
Otherwise enjoy their company.
If they express un-Islaamic views, ideas and ideologies then engage them, otherwise listen but do not hear.
