not aiding ones family

Question ID: 31114

As Salaam wa Alaikum Mufti Elias.
I would like to know if one will be commiting a sin or be in the wrong if one chooses not to assist a person or family member financially(who are living way beyond their means) because they keep using Thakdhir as an excuse/scapegoat for the situation they are currently in.Also they try to play the guilt card by pointing out they are one’s resposibilty and they have a Haq over one.Furthermore they kind of blackmail one as all their accounts(rent, elec, phone) are on one’s name and now one has to pay for fear of being blacklisted for non payment. Minimal time and effort is made to alleviate them from their situation and keep citing that if this is what is written for them then they can not change it. There is no time for them to pursue anything constructive but ample time is made to visit shopping malls, trade fair, beachfront area etc etc.
One is very well aware that every aspect of our lives are already written but feel that it is being used as an excuse.More than enough has been done to assist and other people/family members have stopped assisting due to similar/same reason. Will one be in the wrong by also refraining from any further assistance and by relinquishing the accounts in one’s name.
Allah knows best but your esteemed advice will be highly appreciated.

Avoid aiding those who do not want to help themselves. Do not let people use your account facilities. When they fell the pinch they will wake up. By aiding you are spoiling.
