Question ID: 20922

Some parents believe that when a child cries too much or acts too stubborn then one of the reasons is the Nazar of the parents or close loved ones of the child. They say that the Nazr is sweet so they take sugar and salt in the fist of their hand and place it on the child’s head and read the four Quls and blow on the child then discard the sugar and salt. Please help us to understand this belief and explain where this ritual comes from and why parents would do such and thing and if it is permissible in Islam.

This is the first time I have come across this method. Read the last 3 Quls 3 times each and blow on the child. All Nazr will disappear InshaAllaah.
