Animate Objects

Question ID: 20731

Aslm Dear Respected Mufti

In todays world almost every house has pictures of animate objects. Be it almost every baby product, groceries and other products, printed media, etc.

However this topic is hardly ever spoken about by Aalims.

I would like assistance in understanding the following. If it is too detailed please could you guide me to an English book so that I may gain a good understanding of this topic.

What are the effects of having animate objects visible (i.e not intentionally displayed but displayed for example on a cereal box). Is this sinful (makroo or haraam)? Will Angels not enter the home? This may be a silly question but what is the effect of Angels not entering the home?
If there is a picture of person, what must be covered from that picture for it to be no longer considered haraam.
If something is made to look animate but that object is not naturally animate (eg. a car) is this also considered haraam? In this case what would need to be removed for it to no longer be considered haraam?
If a home has 2 rooms and one contains animate objects (toys etc.) if one closes the door to that room would the negative effects still affect the home and the inhabitants (or only that room)?

Jazakallah ul ghair for your assistance, this is something that I have been uneased about as it is so difficult to remove all animate pictures and objects when so many items have these images especially baby products.

The Majlis has a book on ‘photography’ – go to their site and read it.
Those that you have no control over and you cannot avoid, you are not accountable for.
Blessings, peace, tranquility and goodness is removed from the house that displays pictures.
Totally avoid buying toys which have animate object, pictures on them.
