Ingredient used from a live animal

Assalamalaykum Mufti Saab.

How are you? Hope you’re in the best of health. I would like to ask you a question which I’ve just realised have been asked previously by another person but sorry I didn’t understand the reply clearly.

Firstly, I’m glad to know that you have graduated from a Deoband Darul Uloom as this will make me certain that I’m asking the right person with my question.

The following is the previously asked question:

Product used from a live animal

Question ID: 26229

Deer Antlers Velvet particularly male have antlers which grows long and fallout naturally every year and regrow again. The antlers have a layer/coating called Velvet. Velvet have an ingredient called IGF which is considered very beneficial for general health and recovery. The antlers are removed before they fall or break off while the animal is alive. Afterwards the IGF is extracted from the Velvet for medicine purposes.

This IGF ingredient is available in Oral Supplement and Topical Spray.

I would like to ask is it permissable Halal to consume the Oral Supplement or use the Topical Spray on the skin?

Awaiting your reply soon.

JazakALLAH U Khairun.
