Health & Safety In Masjid

Question ID: 20570

Our Jamat made qiyam in a Masjid in the UK. The safety in the Masjid was so poor that in the event of a fire occurring there was a serious risk of injury or death.

Addressing this issue with the committee is like addressing a brick wall. As you are aware Asian Muslims don’t really care about such matters. They keep people unsafe and they say have tawwakul. Everything happens through Allah.

Therefore the only remaining solution is to report these people to the non Muslim authorities so that the Masjid committee takes action.

If, in one’s professional opinion, there is a serious risk of injury or death due to breaches in health and safety and there is little or no prospect that the Masjid will address the matter when taken up with them directly, is it permissible to report them to the authorities?

Inform the committee members by writing to them officially and leading a delegation to them officially.
Inform them if they are not going to address the matter, then you are going to report them.
