Fundraisers (Imitation of the kuffar)

Question ID: 19866

What is to be said about fundraising for Madrassah by having braais, selling cakes, mountain climbing, go karting etc?

To me this just seems to be imitation of kuffar in conflict with the teachings of Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam and against the principle of ikhlaas, i.e. surely actions are done solely for Allah and not to obtain material benefit in this world?

I cannot envisage Sahabah Radiallahu Anhum engaging in fundraisers of this nature. Is not the reward in aakhirah sufficient? Are these fundraisers not a case of giving to receive?

Women come for many of these fundraisers. Although the event is women only, is this not a case of going against the principle of the “need to emerge” from the sanctuary of the home?

Do these fundraisers not smack of lack of yaqeen on the part of the ulama that money can be raised by the traditional prophetic method of encouragement and promises of reward and pleasure of Allah?

All these methods are derived of Barakaat, goodness and blessing.
That is why the spin off results are un-Islaamic. Allaah save us from such imitation.
