Clothes and salaah;selling electronics

Question ID: 27634

Could Mufti Saheb please answer the following questions?

1.Is it permissible to read salah with short sleeves?

2.Is it permissible to sell electronics(radios,tv’s,dvd players)?

3.A learned man told me that although it is nice to read salah with trousers above
your ankles,it is not necessary to wear your trousers all the time above your
ankles. His reason is that the hadith relating to wearing clothing below the ankles
refers to the rich and affluent people living in the time of NABI(SAW) who used towear their long robes with trails sweeping the ground out of pride as they used to
say that if their clothes got dirty, they had enough money to buy a new garment.
They used to come in the Masjid with these dirty clothes and perform their salah.
This apparently got NABI(SAW) angry and that the hadith refers to those people.
Please comment.

Jazakallahu khair.

1) Yes, in those areas where most do so.

2) Yes, Makrooh

3) The 'learned man's' reasoning is not correct. Nabi (S.A.W) knew the word for Rich. He should have used it. The Ahadith are general in nature this applicable without condition. The only exception of Hadhrat Aby Bakr (R.A) who stated his case to Nabi (S.A.W) who said 'Oh Abu Bakr, you do not have pride'. Is those Nabi (S.A.W) to testify for anyone of those wearing garments below the ankle??
