(1) Islaamic History The efforts of Hadhrat Idrees (RA)
Hadhrat Idrees (RA) was born in Babylon. He grew up there and acquired knowledge from Hadhrat Sheeth (AS), the son of Hadhrat Aadam (AS). When he grew up and was given the status of a Nabi, he started to call people to Allaah. However, most people refused to listen and opposed him. Hadhrat Idrees (RA) therefore took his followers with him and migrated to Egypt. Allaah had given him the ability to speak all the languages prevalent at the time and he was therefore able to communicate with all people in their own language.

[Qasasul Qur’aan Pgs94-95]

(2) Rasulullaah (SAW)’s Miracle The branch of a date palm walks up to Rasulullaah (SAW)
A Bedouin once approached Rasulullaah (SAW) and asked, “How will I know for certain that you are the Messenger of Allaah?” “Will you accept it if I call that branch of the palm to come to me?” Rasulullaah (SAW) asked. “Certainly,” the man replied. Rasulullaah (SAW) then called the branch and it immediately detached itself from the palm, came up to Rasulullaah (SAW) and then returned when he instructed it to return. When he saw this miracle, the man accepted Islaam immediately.

[Tirmidhi 3628, from Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Abbaas (RA)]

(3) A Fardh Purity of the body
For Salaah to be valid, it is necessary for the body to be free from any impurities. Rasulullaah (SAW) mentioned that Salaah is not accepted without purity.

[Tirmidhi, from Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Umar (RA)]

(4) A Sunnah The Du’aa for sleeping
Hadhrat Abu Dharr (RA) reports that whenever Rasulullaah (SAW) retired to bed, he would recite:

اَللّٰهُمَّ بِاسْمِكَ أَمُوْتُ وَ أَحْيَا

O Allaah, In Your Name I die and I live

[Bukhaari 6335]

(5) A Nafl The reward for visiting the ill
Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “When a Muslim visits his ailing Muslim brother with the intention of being rewarded, he will be separated a distance of seventy years from Jahannam.”

[Abu Dawood 3097, from Hadhrat Ali (RA)]

(6) A Sin Using one’s own opinion to comment on the Qur’aan
Rasulullaah (SAW) said that the person who comments on the Qur’aan using his own opinion is really preparing his abode in Jahannam.

[Tirmidhi 2950, from Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Abbaas (RA)]

(7) This World The example of this world
Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “I have no attachment with this world. The example of myself and this world is like a traveller taking shade beneath a tree and then continuing further.”

[Tirmidhi 2377]

(8) The Aakhirah The clothing of Jahannam
Allaah says, “As for those who commit kufr, garments of fire shall be cut out for them and boiling water will be poured over their heads (they will be surrounded by fire, as if they are wearing it like clothing)”.

[Surah Hajj, verse 19]

(9) Cures from the Qur’aan and Rasulullaah (SAW) Onions
When Hadhrat Aa’isha (RA) was asked about onions, she remarked that the last food Rasulullaah (SAW) ate contained onions.

Abu Dawood 3829]

Allaama Ibn Qayyim (RA) writes that onions dispel toxic winds, lift the complexion, eradicate phlegm, and strengthen the stomach.

NOTE: Raw onions should never be eaten before entering the Masjid.

(10) Qur’aanic Advice
Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “Turn to your Rabb and surrender to Him before punishment afflicts you, after which you will not be assisted”.

[Surah Zumar, verse 54]
