Assalamu alaikum,
Respected Mufti Sahab, a relative of mine attends a gathering of zikr every Thursday after Asr at a place on the terrace of a building and not in the mosque. There are other people of the locality and peoole also come from other places to attend the zikr majlis. There is a head and people surround him and they all do not wear a cap during zikr even if one is wearing he takes it off or other tells him to take off. There are sea shell about a hundred in a container it is taken out and then the head starts and says one name of Allah and then all others repeat it . This is done while the shell are taken by the head and all the people gathered there and then read the respected wazifa on the shells and keep it aside and when all the shells are finished on counting by all the individuals they then gather all the shells and keep it in the middle and then the head again says a word like Ya Mojibu Dawate then all the people take the shells as much as they can and read this same wazifa on the shells until all the shells kept in the middle are read upon then again the shell are gathered in the middle and then another word is utterred by the head an all repeat it by taking the shells and reading on them this goes on until maghrib and then dua is done.
So I want to ask that whether I should attend the majlis or is it biddah. As the zikr in congregation in the mosque is biddah but does this kind of zikr also comes under biddah and should be stopped as this is not taking place in the masjid but at some other place.

Please let me know whether it is ok to attend as people and relative also tell me to join as I am jobless and so should attend the zikr majlis and ask dua for rozi.

Jazzak Allah!

This bid'at is gaining momentum. Hadhrat Mu'alli Ali Qadri (R.A) states that Sahabah (R.A) did not gather in the Masjid or homes to make Zikr. That which is not proven reaps no real spiritual benefit. Avoid - do not attend. Do what is proven. Make Salaat. Make Du'aa, Allaah will aid.
